The hobby still imports most Corydoras species from the wild, but the peppered cory was one of the first tank-bred cory catfish. Peppered cories sold in shops are now almost always farm-raised. The albino cory cats seen in shops are almost always C. paleatus, too. Oddly, we see the normal, green mottled version much less often.Cory catfish tankmates can include most community tank fish as long as they are non-aggressive and friendly in nature. Otocinclus catfish, tetras, swordtails, and other corys can be a good fit. You will not want to put corys in the same tank with Oscars, Texas cichlids, Jack Dempseys or any large mouthed fish.
Some species, like Corydoras aeneus in various forms, Corydoras paleatus und others are part of the standard offers in petstores. This is not in my focus. Since nearly 20 years I put my eye on the keeping and breeding of special and rare Corydoras species.Corydoras panda is a smaller species, the larger females not getting past 5cm/2" and as such it is easy to recommend a larger shoal of five or more individuals for your tank. Like Corydoras sterbai, this species created something of a storm when first introduced, but again was soon found to be easy to keep and breed.
